Editorial policy

This page explains how we produce and maintain our content — our standards for accuracy, sourcing, medical review, independence and updates.

Accuracy & sourcing

We aim to be accurate, current and genuinely useful. We rely on primary sources — SAHPRA, peer-reviewed clinical trials (such as STEP, SURMOUNT, SURPASS and SURMOUNT-5), the SA Medicine Price Registry and manufacturer patient information leaflets — and we link to them so you can check our work. Where we use SA health journalism for market context, we say so. We paraphrase and keep quotes minimal. See the sources hub.

Medical review

Clinical pages are reviewed for accuracy by our medical reviewer against current registration status, the evidence and manufacturer information. Each carries a trust bar showing who reviewed it, when it was last updated, and how many sources it draws on. Review is not a substitute for personal medical advice.

Balance & independence

We cover multiple medicines and present risks, costs and alternatives alongside benefits. We make no outcome guarantees, present no off-label use as if approved, and run no testimonials making specific medical claims. Any commercial/referral relationship is disclosed on our recommendations page and does not influence our clinical coverage.

Prices & freshness

This niche changes fast. We date-stamp every page, aim to review pricing monthly, and re-check clinical pages on a schedule. Prices are clearly marked as indicative, in Rand, and exclusive of consultation and tests. The current price stamp is June 2026.

Corrections

If you spot something inaccurate or out of date, please tell us at hello@weightlossmeds.co.za. We correct errors promptly and, where material, note the update.

Advertising & use of AI

We earn traffic organically and do not run paid search advertising for this resource. Where AI tools assist drafting or research, a human editor is responsible for accuracy and a medical reviewer checks clinical content. Editorial decisions are made by people.
